Yesterday took place the last day of Mobile Thinking Day first edition, a Mobile World Capital Barcelona program where IESE Business School and Rock Salvatella create a space where business opportunities related to the use of technology in the tourism sectorare addressed.
To present the latest innovations in tourism Microsoft has chosen two leading organisations in this sector: the catalan and Microsoft global award-winning Business Intelligence 2013 company, Bismart, and the Center for Innovation in Tourism Technologies in collaboration with the Balearic Government.
During the Mobile Thinking Day, Bismart presented their innovations in Big Data, Open Data and the Internet of Things (IoT), applied to tourism. In this sense, we have presented the analysis tools for open data environment of the City of Barcelona, the environment sentiment analysis on La Mercè and finally the Smart Destination application, which allows tourists to design the best itinerary for visitors the city of Barcelona according to availability of time, budget and preferences. The application optimizes real-time data about traffic conditions, weather, transportation costs and inputs, among other things, to provide the best itinerary to suit the tourist. Furthermore, the application allows to know the GPS position of the tourist, proactively provide other information and collect your feedback.
These applications represent a breakthrough because most institutions are well prepared in terms of solutions for the sale and booking of a destination, but do not provide an adequate service to tourists while at the destination, nor collects information mode feedback when you return home. This information is essential not only to enhance the tourist experience, but to make it repeat trip.
