Microsoft Releases Q3 Results for FY19

Microsoft has released its report for the third quarter of the fiscal year in which it shared the company's financial data for the first three months of 2019.

As in the previous two quarters, Microsoft has experienced significant revenue growth. The turnover in this quarter has been more than 30 billion dollars, 14% more than the same period last year. These results are mainly driven by the increasing interest in Cloud services.

- Operating income was10.3 billion dollars (an increase of 25%).

- Net income was $8.8 billion (a 19% increase).

- Diluted earnings per share were $1.14 (a 20% increase).

Amy Hood, executive vice president and CFO of Microsoft, explained that "demand for our cloud computing offerings brought commercial cloud revenue to $9.6 billion this quarter, 41% higher than in the same period last year" and that the company continues to drive revenue growth and operating income with consistent execution by its sales teams and specific strategic partners and investments.

The growth is seen both overall and in its various branches and is very balanced.

Productivity and business process revenues were $10.2 billion (14% higher than in the previous period). This segment includes an overall increase in revenues from Office Commercial products (up 12% over the same period last year), Office Consumer (up 8%), LinkedIn (up 27%) and Dinamics (up 13%). The company pointed out that interaction levels on LinkedIn set records and that the social network increased the number of sessions by 24%.

Revenues on Intelligent Cloud were $9.7 billion, an increase of 22% over the same period last year. This is where the most spectacular growth is seen: Azure's revenue growth is 73% over the same period last year. This has led to a 27% increase in revenues from Server Products and cloud services.

Finally, More Personal Computing revenues were $10.7 billion, an increase of 8%. This includes Windows OEM, which posted a 9% increase, Windows commercial products and cloud services, which posted an 18% increase, Surface, which posted a 21% increase, Gaming revenue, 5%, and finally search ad spend, which rose 12%.
